Morphing: Stop animation workshop

Join local artists Deborah Thompson and Brian Lye for a two-part hands-on Stop Motion Animation workshop. Thompson will speak to her creation process for the two stop motion animation videos that are part of the Museum’s current exhibition, “Boat without a Boat”. Lye is an accomplished filmmaker and instructor at Selkirk College.

2-Part hands on stop animation workshop

Thursday, February 5th, 4:30-7:30 pm & Saturday, February 7th, 10am -2:30pm

Join local artists Deborah Thompson and Brian Lye for a two-part hands-on Stop Motion Animation workshop. Thompson will speak to her creation process for the two stop motion animation videos that are part of the Museum’s current exhibition, “Boat without a Boat”. Lye is an accomplished filmmaker and instructor at Selkirk College. Together, they will guide you through animation basics to the creation of a short film. Content that will be covered: storyboarding & storytelling, stop-motion animation fundamentals, hinge puppet making, adding sound effects, and animating on a green screen. This workshop will utilize a free online software for ipads, iphones, or androids. Hardware will be supplied if you don’t have access to your own. The workshop will wrap up with a mini film fest featuring the created content, which will remain on display to the public in Gallery B until Feb 22nd. Maximum 10 participants, minimum age 14+
