SCHOOL TOURS
Your partner in education.
The Nelson Museum is alive with opportunities to explore the BC curriculum – whatever the subject.
The rotating gallery exhibitions, 2nd floor Museum, The REDress Project installation, Cold War Bunker, Shawn Lamb Archives, and the Nelson Sports Collection offer
one-of-a-kind opportunities for educators to deliver immersive experiences that augment classroom lessons, bringing the curriculum to life! New in 2024: the We Love A Parade! permanent installation and accompanying 10-lesson education package explores the history and growth of the LGBTQ2S+ community in the Kootenays. For more information about this program, please email tours@nelsonmuseum.ca.
The programs developed at the Nelson Museum integrate seamlessly with the British Columbia school curriculum while providing opportunities for curriculum enhancement. Tours include fully developed lesson plans and workshops to compliment any student level, from kindergarten to secondary school.
Our gallery exhibitions change regularly throughout the year, and as such, programs are regularly refreshed and suited to enhance learning and progress in core competencies, key subject areas, and student research projects.

Each tour booking includes a one-hour tour with one of our Museum Guides, as well as pre- and post-visit activities to enrich your experience. Each student will also receive a Kid Curator pass — FREE admission for a student and parent/guardian — encouraging them to return and share their experience even further beyond the classroom.
